We began Project MIURA with the intent to showcase our Custom Build Experience. We are an Authorized Miura Retailer and a Certified Miura clubmaker. We have built a custom set of Miura CB-501 with Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 shafts, green custom ferrules, and Golf Pride’s Master’s Series New Decade Multicompound. We cataloged our build with photos. We hope you enjoy the blog and feel free to contact us with any questions. Our customer has been fitted before by our store, and prefers Titleist standard specs, but we had to check his specs again.

The First Stage was to pick the clubheads, our customer is a big fan of the CB-501, this is his second set. He had already decided on the Pro Modus 3 Stiff, soft-stepped, ferrules and the grips. The customer has been fit for irons at our location before, but we double checked for any variations.

The Second Stage was to conduct a Lie angle test using one of our Lie Boards. The Lie angle plays a key role in shot direction. First we attached a Lie Impact Label on the sole of the Demo 6 Iron CB-501. Our Demo is adjusted to 2 Degress upright from standard, which was at 62.5 degrees. After the customer hit 6 shots, we checked the Impact Label and it read 1 Degree Flat from the 2 degree upright Demo specs, this matched his original fitting, +1 Degree Upright from Standard Miura Specs.

The Third Stage was to attach Face Impact tape onto the Demo’s clubface. The customer hit 6 shots and was slightly towards the heel, indicating that the Lie was too upright, making the iron slightly longer than desired. We determined the customer is standard length, same as his original specs.

Our next blog will catalog the build process, and the third blog will highlight the finished product, most impressive.
