The TaylorMade Shadowfall Collection takes the brand’s most fittable, most tour-proven clubs and wraps them in a high-gloss black finish designed to look as serious as it plays. Fourteen pieces — from the Qi4D drivers to the P·790 irons, MG5 wedges, a blacked-out Spider ZT, and premium soft goods — form a cohesive, darker-than-usual look without changing the underlying engineering that has made each model successful. If you’ve ever wanted a full bag that actually matches, this is as complete a lineup as any major OEM has ever released.

Shadowfall Collection Overview

Shadowfall isn’t a new product platform. It’s a finish program that takes TaylorMade’s current flagship clubs and restyles them in premium black, with subtle detail work that makes each model look more refined at address without sacrificing the visual cues players rely on. The lineup spans three driver models (Qi4D, Qi4D LS, Qi4D Max), the Qi4D Shadowfall Fairway, the P·790 Shadowfall irons, MG5 Charcoal wedges, and the Spider ZT Black 3-Line putter — plus a Signature L5 and Signature M4 stand bag, a Shadowfall Hoodie, T-shirt, A-Frame Legacy Hat, and Tour Towel to finish the kit.

From the collection page itself: “Bold in its refinement, the Qi4D Shadowfall Collection brings premium high-gloss black finish to our fastest most fittable driver family.” That description fits the broader lineup well — this is finish work done to a tour standard, not a cosmetic sticker pack.

Construction and Technology Behind Shadowfall

What separates Shadowfall from a typical limited-edition paint-over is that every club in the lineup carries the full production technology of its respective model. TaylorMade didn’t pull features out to make the black finish work. The Qi4D drivers retain their 4° FCT loft sleeves and moveable weighting, the P·790 irons keep their forged multi-material construction, the MG5 wedges keep their fully-forged carbon steel body and saw-milled grooves, and the Spider ZT Black 3-Line uses the same Pure Roll insert and low-torque shaft architecture as the standard Spider ZT.

The finish itself is a high-gloss black treatment applied to crowns, bodies, and soles, with accent detailing that varies by model — a darkened FCT sleeve on the drivers, Shadowfall branding cues on the ironheads, and a full Satin Chrome/Charcoal combination on select MG5 lofts. Across the set, the finish reads as stealthy but polished rather than matte or tactical.

Qi4D Shadowfall Driver

The standard Qi4D is the middle ground of the three-driver family — a balanced combination of launch, spin, and forgiveness. In Shadowfall trim it’s offered in 9° and 10.5° lofts, both right- and left-hand, with a 460cc head, 45.75″ length, D4 swing weight, and a lie range of 56°–60° adjusted via the FCT hosel. The black crown accentuates the Qi4D geometry at address, and with the gloss finish the alignment cue at the crown reads cleaner than on the matte production model.

Qi4D LS Shadowfall Driver

The LS is the lower-spin option in the family — designed for players who already deliver the club with enough launch and want to protect spin. Same 460cc head, same 45.75″ length, same FCT adjustability, but with a slightly different weighting strategy and head shape that pushes CG forward. In the Shadowfall finish the LS is the most visually striking of the three — the shape pops against the darker surround.

Qi4D Max Shadowfall Driver

The Max is the most forgiving head in the Qi4D family, with a larger footprint and a higher MOI profile. It keeps the same volume category and adjustable FCT sleeve, but feels more planted at address than the standard or LS. Shadowfall gives it a more refined appearance than the production Max — the finish visually tightens the shape.

Qi4D Shadowfall Fairway

The Qi4D Shadowfall Fairway extends the program into the long game with the same finish philosophy. It’s built around the same Qi4D fairway platform — a speed-focused multi-material construction — and carries through the visual cues of the driver lineup so they look unified in the bag.

P·790 Shadowfall Irons

The P·790 is arguably the most successful Players Distance iron of the last decade, and the Shadowfall version brings that platform into a darker aesthetic. The set runs 4-iron through pitching wedge, with traditional P·790 loft progression — 4i: 20°, 5i: 23°, 6i: 26.5°, 7i: 30°, 8i: 34°, 9i: 39°, PW: 44° — and lie angles that progress from 61° at the 4-iron to 64° at the PW. Length progression is standard P·790 (38.5″ at the 4, down to 35.75″ at the PW), and swing weight is D2/D0 through the long and mid irons, climbing to D3/D1 at the pitching wedge. Offered in RH and LH. Shafts are available in steel or graphite.

What makes the Shadowfall treatment work on P·790 is that the finish doesn’t over-darken the topline or mask the leading edge — the compact shape and clean lines that Tour players prefer remain readable at address. This is a visual upgrade that doesn’t compromise the platform.

MG5 Charcoal Wedges

The MG5 Charcoal wedges are the short-game piece of the collection. They carry the full MG5 feature set: a fully forged body in soft carbon steel, aggressive saw-milled grooves with ultra-tight tolerances, steeper groove walls, and sharper radii for maximum spin. Grinds follow the standard MG5 lineup — LB (Low Bounce), SC (Standard), and SB (Standard Bounce) — which were designed with TaylorMade’s wedge craftsman Greg Cesario based on Tour player feedback. Most Charcoal-finished lofts are built in RH/LH and carry a D5 swing weight in the scoring lofts, with 64° lie angle across the family.

Key specs from the current MG5 build sheet: LB grinds in 56° / 58° / 60° (8° bounce, 35.00″–35.25″ length); SC grinds in 54° / 56° / 58° / 60° (9°–10° bounce); SB grinds stepping from 46° through the gap-wedge lofts with 9° bounce. The Satin Chrome/Charcoal finish is what gives the Shadowfall-family wedges their darker tone without altering the playable surface.

Spider ZT Black 3-Line Putter

The Spider ZT Black 3-Line is the putter in the Shadowfall family. It’s built on the full Spider ZT platform — a KBS shaft bored directly in line with the CG, slight forward shaft lean, and 25mm of onset behind the leading edge for a toe-up orientation that enhances stroke stability. The SuperStroke grip is positioned to encourage forward shaft lean and minimize added loft at impact. Face is a Pure Roll insert.

Published specs: 2.5° loft, 70° lie, 370g head weight, lengths of 33″ / 34″ / 35″, toe-up face balance, available in RH/LH. The 3-line top alignment aid makes this the most visually guided head in the ZT family — worth noting if you like a strong alignment cue at setup. In the Shadowfall finish the putter is fully blacked out, which quiets the visual noise on the backswing and lets the three alignment lines do the work.

Feel and On-Course Performance

Because Shadowfall is a finish program applied to existing heads, feel and performance track the production models directly — and that’s the point. The Qi4D drivers deliver the same ball-speed profile, improved roll-radius face, and 4° of adjustability as the standard Qi4D family. The P·790 Shadowfall irons produce the same mid-to-high ball flight and forged feel the platform is known for, with tight shot dispersion on center strikes and the familiar muted-but-connected sensation on mishits. The MG5 Charcoal wedges spin like current MG5s — which is to say aggressively, particularly on half-swing approach shots where the saw-milled grooves really shine. The Spider ZT Black 3-Line rolls like a toe-up mallet should: high-MOI forgiveness on pace, a soft-but-defined response off the Pure Roll insert, and a stroke path that feels stable through the ball thanks to the shaft-through-CG construction.

The finish itself has one subtle on-course benefit worth mentioning: the darker crown on the driver family reduces glare in bright conditions compared to the standard Qi4D paint. Small thing, but real.

Who Shadowfall Is For

Shadowfall is aimed at the player who wants a coordinated look across the full bag without compromising on the underlying performance. If you’re already playing — or strongly considering — any of the core models (Qi4D, P·790, MG5, Spider ZT), this gives you the same technology with a more premium aesthetic. It’s also the most cohesive full-bag restyle TaylorMade has released in recent memory, so if you’re someone who plays in a tournament bag and cares about presentation, it’s a natural choice. Skill range spans widely: the Qi4D Max and P·790 lean into forgiveness for mid-handicaps, while the Qi4D LS, P·790 in the longer irons, MG5 LB grinds, and Spider ZT are all tuned for players who shape shots and rely on feedback.

How Shadowfall Fits the TaylorMade Lineup

Inside the current TaylorMade family, Shadowfall sits alongside the standard Qi4D lineup, the production P·790, the current MG5 wedge family, and the Spider ZT putter range — not in front of or behind them. It’s a parallel visual identity rather than a generational step forward. For fitting purposes the heads, specs, and shaft options mirror the production models, so any fitting data you already have on a current Qi4D, P·790, MG5, or Spider ZT transfers directly. That’s the quiet advantage of a finish program done this way — no learning curve, no compromise in fitting.

Custom Fitting Shadowfall at Fairway Golf

Every Shadowfall club builds to the same fitting framework as the standard production model. At Fairway Golf in San Diego, we fit the Qi4D drivers using launch-monitor data to dial in loft, face angle via the FCT sleeve, and moveable-weight positioning for your preferred shot shape. For the P·790 Shadowfall irons, we’ll work through steel vs. graphite, shaft profile, length, and lie angle to match your delivery. MG5 Charcoal wedges are fit based on your existing wedge set-up, turf interaction, and the grinds (LB, SC, SB) that match your swing type. For the Spider ZT Black 3-Line, we’ll match length, lie, and grip style to your stroke and alignment preference.

If you’re thinking about Shadowfall as a full-bag build, the benefit of fitting at a single location is consistency — shaft weight and flex profiles can be mapped across driver, fairway, irons, and wedges so transitions feel cohesive. Contact our San Diego team to schedule a fitting.
