At Fairway Golf, customers often ask us why we recommend Fourteen so often. As a Fourteen distributor based in San Diego, we have seen what makes these clubs special. Here is the short version, with real specs from the brand to back it up.
A Brand Built Around Irons and Wedges
Fourteen is a Japanese golf company that focuses mainly on irons and wedges. Instead of trying to make every kind of club, they have spent decades perfecting a smaller lineup, and that focus shows up in the engineering. Fourteen even rates each iron on a 3 to 9 difficulty scale, so it is easy to match the right model to your game.
The Lineup, With the Specs That Matter
The PC-3 Irons are Fourteen’s game improvement model. The 5 through 7 irons use a new ultra-high-strength face material called Elite D Steel with a 1.75mm face, designed to boost ball speed and launch the ball higher, even at moderate swing speeds. The 8 through PW use a 2.0mm nickel-chrome-molybdenum face with deeper grooves to control spin and reduce flyers from the rough. A vibration-absorbing elastomer is built into the lower head for a softer feel, and tungsten weighting moves the center of gravity closer to the actual hitting point.

The 2025 TB-5 Forged Irons are forged from super-mild S20C soft steel and use Fourteen’s “Theater Blade” design, which removes the toe and heel walls of a typical cavity and redistributes that weight around the perimeter. The result is a club that combines the forgiveness of a cavity back with the soft feel of a muscle back. The new model also features a Universal Sole grind borrowed from the DJ series wedges, which improves turf interaction across a wide variety of lies.

The TB-7 Forged Irons are designed for better players who want extreme accuracy and consistency. The undercut cavity and increased cavity thickness deliver an even softer feel at impact, while the semi-compact head and minimal offset inspire confidence at address. The TB-7 pairs naturally with the TB-5 for a combo set.
The TC-7 Forged Irons round out the lineup as a true players iron with a compact shape, soft forged feel, and minimal offset. (We do not currently stock the TC-7 in our shop. The closest match in our store today is the TC-826 Irons, which is also a great option for skilled amateurs.)
Get Fit With Trackman: Why It Beats the Old Way
Old-school iron fittings often relied on watching ball flight outdoors and using lie boards or impact tape. That can be helpful, but it leaves a lot to guesswork. Trackman uses radar to capture every part of the swing and the ball’s flight, including ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, smash factor, carry distance, and shot dispersion. Instead of guessing, our fitters can see exactly how each Fourteen model and shaft performs for your swing, and pick the setup that produces the most distance and the tightest dispersion.
Our team includes one Top 50 Fitter, three Top 100 Fitters, and seven club builders. To book a Trackman fitting at our Kearny Mesa store (5040 Convoy Street #A, San Diego, CA 92111), call 858-268-1702, extension 2.
Final Thoughts and Next Steps
Fourteen irons are built for golfers who care about feel, craftsmanship, and equipment that is genuinely fit to their game. If you would like to see the lineup in person, swing them on Trackman, and work with a team that knows the details, we would love to help.
